Every so often there's a uniform everybody talks about. Thirty years ago it was Marquette's untucked jersey. In more recent years, the Golden Eagles' uniforms have become fairly pedestrian, but now the school is about to set tongues wagging again, thanks to this new design. .
Profile: Mackey Arena
Now in its 39th season as home to the Purdue Boilermakers, Mackey Arena is not only one of the top college basketball arenas in the Big Ten, but across the country as well. Over the years, the Mackey Arena faithful have helped the Boilermakers to win over 80 percent of their games at home. Dedication Build for about $6 million, Purdue Arena was dedicated on December 2, 1967, in a game featuring Purdue and UCLA. Purdue Arena was renamed Mackey Arena in 1972 in memory of late Athletics Director Guy "Red" Mackey, who led the department for 32 years. The playing floor sits 17 feet below ground level while the height from the arena floor to the aluminum roof above is 97 feet. Surrounding the arena are lighted parking areas with a capacity to hold 240 vehicles. .

Hospital workers beat patient
The hospital staff will use the report to make improvements and have about 10 days to devise plans and pass another review.Investigators have threatened all four state psychiatric hospitals with cuts this year and took the rare step of pulling money from Broughton Hospital in Morganton. This month, Dorothea Dix Hospital in Raleigh was added to the federal watch list. Investigators faulted Dix for failing to have doctors approve patient transfers from the admissions unit to other hospitals.The problems come as the state is wrestling with the results of a mental health reform effort. Counties have shed most treatment programs, but the private companies that were to replace them have failed to fill the gaps for the most difficult-to-treat patients. At the same time, short-term hospital admissions have increased.The report Wednesday on Umstead did not name any of the patients or hospital workers.In the staff assault case, a health- care technician reported abuse in September of a 51-year-old woman who was in restraints.
