Winter of Our Discontent
2) We cannot (and should not) police the world. 3) National Defense has been captured and used as a welfare program for people who don't need the money. 4) Government should protect the public from crooks, shysters, con-men, hucksters etc, and should not be run by crooks, shysters, con-men, hucksters, etc. 5) Close foreign bases (see #2 and #3) 6) Change the labor laws to protect working people and encourage the right to organize. 7) Government officials and Corporate Officers are Not above the law and should do hard time if convicted of crimes. There are too many people in prison for drug related offenses. End the WAR on DRUGS. 9) Get the government out of our private lives and quit it listening to our phonecalls and reading our (e-)mail.
'I Am Legend,' starring Will Smith, is the latest in a long line of ...
When Will Smith hits the screen today in I Am Legend, playing the single survivor of a viral attack that kills off humanity, he'll hardly be alone. The apocalypse, in either its aftermath or the moments preceding it, has long been a popular idea in fiction, especially in the post-nuclear era. From novels (Cormac McCarthy's bestselling The Road, Stephen King's The Stand, George R. Stewart's Earth Abides, Pat Frank's Alas, Babylon!,the Left Behind series) to TV (a memorable Twilight Zone episode starring Burgess Meredith as the last man standing), the notion of the human herd getting thinned to near zero never seems to lose its appeal. But it's on the big screen that the subject has really come to life. Kevin Costner has even starred in two such films -- Waterworld (1995), in which most of the globe is submerged, and The Postman (1997), where the hero believes delivering long-lost letters is a way to return hope to the remaining stragglers in a post-apocalyptic America.

Burger King 1Q profit up 23 pct; shares down on shareholder plan
Burger King Holdings Inc. said Monday its first-quarter earnings rose 23 percent, but shares of the world's second largest hamburger chain fell almost 4 percent as three big shareholders disclosed plans to sell about a third of their holdings. Burger King's profit narrowly beat Wall Street expectations as movie-related marketing promotions and sales of chicken sandwiches and value breakfast items helped offset higher food costs. The Miami-based fast-food company earned $49 million, or 35 cents per share, for the three months ended Sept. 30, compared with $40 million, or 30 cents per share, a year earlier. Revenue increased 10 percent to $602 million from $546 million in the prior-year period. Analysts were expecting a profit of 33 cents per share on revenue of $597.1 million, according to a poll by Thomson Financial.

The Politics of Hatred, Bigotry and Distraction/Diversion, and Barry ...
A group of men who have done this have sentenced themselves to Blasphemy in Hell-Federal Grand Jury Indicts Barry Bonds. Distraction/Diversion There are two major forces at work here-two masters of insanity at play. One is the masters of distraction/diversion, the Neo-cons and the Fascists, who count on the most greedy, jealous, envious, least intellectually endowed, and the most bigoted center corps of people consisting at base of about 60-70 millions of Americans. A core of that group contains all of those negative anti-virtuous factors, 30-35 million people. These dumb, sick, evil bastards will accept anything that fits their limited world and even worse, their limited ability to reason and their vast ability to hate. Bigotry and Hatred Therefore, the Bushites play off the lowest forms of human life, to make a minor matter into a Major distraction.
